Lavendel in German TV

Lavendel in German TV.

A little report about me and my steampunk. The TV station DRF-1 has accompanied me about 5 hours at my work and created an 8 minute film. Unfortunately only in German…….

Jacobs Ladder

I have always wanted to have a real Jacobs Ladder. Now I have realized this dream. This unit was produced from an old neon transformer with an output of 8000 volts as well as bulky measuring electrodes. You should not leave the ladders for long periods of time as they produce nitrogen oxides. Therefore always ventilate well if you want to operate such a device.

The Thunderhorn

A lonely, completely oxidized brass horn, slumbered in my resting-crate and was brought back to life shortly thereafter. Now it acts as a thunderstorm warner. An electronic circuit from Franzis, developed by Burhard Kainka, evaluates electromagnetic voltage and emits acoustic as well as visual warning when a thunderstorm approaches. A great and useful companion on all your travels.

VFD Clock

What should i say? It´s a VFD Clock *gg

The VFD technology was developed in the 1960s in Japan until the industrial maturity. Fluorescent displays triggered the Nixie tubes functioning as glow lamps. It first appeared as a cylindrical tube for the display of a single digit which can be represented by segments. Later, fluorescence displays were also fabricated as a flat complex display element. However, the term „digitron“ was still retained, especially in applications for office computers.

Aetherias Secret

For months I worked on this device. It is a steampunk safe. To get to the inner secret, you have to solve some riddles. Clap in the hands turns on the main tension. Various switches allow the device to rotate 180 °, where other puzzles can be solved. This gives you a 4-digit code which you must enter on the front panel in the keypad. If the code is correct, this apparatus opens fully automatically and moves its innermost upwards. Pressing any key will close the safe again.

5 geared motors, neon plasma balls, Nixie Codeschloss, automatic secret drawer and some more were installed here. A TV Team has banned the full functioning of this device on film. When the broadcast of this contribution is, I can unfortunately not say yet but certainly will be a link to find here 😉

The Time Cup

Old, lying sound bars of a wall clock have brought me to this idea. The striking of the sound bars here solenoid electromagnets are controlled by Arduino. The device functions as a timer and counts the minutes after switching on. Every hour, the Westminster Sound will sound with hourly acoustics. If this device is switched on at 12 o’clock, it functions as a normal clock. When an hour has passed, it hits one, then two …. There are lots of instructions how the sound bars can be controlled by servo. With Solenoid not yet. Lavendel has invented it 😉

The Rod of the Travellers

A tricky object on which worked very long. Just getting the electronics and control for the nixier tubes into a copper tube that is only 28mm thick, cost me nerves, sweat and blood. The unit is equipped with flashlight, laser pointer, Mp3 player, Nixie lock, video camera and photo camera. Automatic magnifying lenses drive down at the push of a button. The hand movement opens via Ultrasonic the support bracket and the bar can be taken out of its holder. The main control unit is an Arduino Nano.
